Henry County, Indiana Cemetery Commission
Christopher Long Monument
Christopher Long was a Color Sergeant at the Battle of Yorktown in the Revolutionary War. He also served with General George Washington at Valley Forge, Virginia. He also served with three different Virginia counties: Culpepper, Botetourt and Henry. He was one of six brothers who served throughout the war.
The Christopher Long monument is located at the intersection of County Roads 200S and 500E. It was damaged in a car accident--as these pictures show.
The re-dedication of the Christopher Long Revolutionary War veteran's monument was held on Saturday, November 9, 2002.
The Sarah Winston Henry Chapter of the DAR and the Continental Chapter of the SAR from Muncie, Indiana were in charge of the ceremony. The Indiana State SAR Honor Guard participated. Several descendents of the Christopher Long family from out of state were also there. The public was invited to attend.
